Submitting Digital Images and Submision Guidelines

Directions for Submitting Digital Images to Green Hill:

In order to insure quality printing of your work for publications such as magazines and newspapers, gallery flyers and mailers, and other promotional considerations please follow these guidelines when submitting digital files of your work.

Files sizes should be between 1MB and 4MB. You may lower the resolution of your photograph to fit within this range, but please do not increase the resolution of your small images to meet the 1MB minimum.

Files may be submitted as either .jpg or .tiff format. They may be in an RGB, CMYK, or Grayscale image space.

When considering resolution, the file should be at least 5" x 7" at 300dpi. This is about the size of a 3 Megapixel image file. This also equals 1500 x 2100 pixels.

You may email images to Sarah Collins at sarah.collins@greenhillcenter.org.
If you are sending multiple images, please combine them all into one compressed file with a ".zip" file suffix

On a Mac, you can do this by selecting the images you are about to send and the holding the control key while you single click with the mouse. Scroll down to "Create archive of x items". This will create a separate file titled "archive.zip". Rename "archive.zip" to "yourname.zip" and it is ready to email.

On a PC, highlight your images you are going to send and right click on them. Scroll down to send to "compressed zip folder". This will create a folder with the name of one of your files with the .zip suffix. Rename it to "yourname.zip" and it is ready to email.

If you are including images that were taken by a professional or another organization please provide us with the credit information.

PLEASE title each image as follows: first initial of first name_last name_titleofpiece. For example: s_collins_sunnyday

You may send up to 10MB worth of files in a single email.

Alternately, if your file is larger than 10MB, we encourage you to use a file transferring service such as YouSendIt.com, dropload.com, or transferbigfiles.com. These sites are free, straightforward, and you can send files up to 100MB.

For Artists Submitting Artworks

Dear Artist,
Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at Green Hill Center. We accept submissions from artists to exhibit on an ongoing basis and scout for artists to feature in our exhibitions continuously.

To be considered for exhibiting artwork, we request that an artist submit these items by email to sarah.collins@greenhillcenter.org.

• 3 digital images - see our guidelines for digital image submissions
• image script
• current resume
• statement or proposal
• CDs given to Green Hill will not be returned

Or mail this information to:
Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art
200 N. Davie St. Box 4
Greensboro, NC 27401

We may provide each artist with some feedback about his or her work. Generally what we look for is adept technical ability, accomplishment, innovation, visual appeal, and thoughtful content. The artists we feature tend to be - but not always are - professional artists.

Our exhibitions are scheduled 2 to 3 years in advance. We often place new artists in our annual Winter Show group exhibition or in our sales gallery that features more reasonably priced items and artworks. Those are the more immediate opportunities to show.

We hope this information is helpful to you and please feel free to contact us if you have further questions.

Thank you,

Green Hill Curatorial Staff
