Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art Education Programs and Projects
ArtQuest at Green Hill Center est. 1996
ArtQuest, Green Hill’s permanent interactive art gallery for children of all ages, is an integral part of the Green Hill Center, echoing its mission of service to North Carolina artists and promoting art awareness. ArtQuest has been our greatest active fulfillment of our mission, enabling us to promote art and share its processes with families and school groups seven days a week.

Fourteen unique interactive exhibits/stations, created by North Carolina artists and educators, include the Art Expedition, Architecture Corner, a giant textile loom in FiberSpace, My Studio, Claytown animation station, and our newest exhibit, Pablo's Place (created especially for toddlers). The studio and exhibits of ArtQuest are filled with a wide range of materials and activities, and provide age appropriate, process-oriented art activities for all ages. Mornings are reserved for school groups and early childhood development activities. Afternoons are for families.

ArtQuest Family Night
Every Wednesday evening, ArtQuest is open free of charge from 5 to 7 p.m. Family night draws from all members of the community. Carol Moses, MS, LPC, NCC, wrote, "As a citizen of Greensboro I appreciate the Wednesday night free policy so that many families can take advantage of this opportunity to 'play' with their families. Thanks for making ArtQuest available to all families.Ó

ArtQuestMobile est. 1999
With support from the Cemala Foundation and the Kiwanis Club of Greensboro, we have deepened our commitment of bringing quality art programs to all members of our community with the ArtQuestMobile. We deliver the fun of ArtQuest galleries with our unique pop-up exhibits and hands-on art projects to make everyvisit from the ArtQuestMobile a memorable experience.

Family Place at Greensboro Central Library est.1999
Family Place, a collaboration between the Greensboro Public Library and ArtQuest, is a five-week program that allows parents and/or caretakers with very young children (ages 18 months to 3 years) to explore, play and "make art" together at the library.

Guilford Child Health Clinic Renovation
est. 1998
Green Hill Center’s ArtQuest created off-site exhibits in the waiting rooms of two Guilford Child Health clinics. These hands-on exhibits foster meaningful educational interaction between children and their parents with an arts opportunity in a nontraditional "studio."

Collaborations
Partnerships are essential in the fulfillment of Green Hill's mission, allowing staff to serve thousands of children and adults each year. A few of the most recent outreach collaborations include: KidsPath of Hospice of Greensboro, YMCA, YWCA Teen Mentor, Greensboro Life Skills, Greensboro City Arts, Tristan's Quest, Moses Cone Hospital, and the North Carolina Art Museum.
Guilford County School Partnerships
est. 1997

Community support and grants from the United Way of Greater Greensboro and United Way of High Point have allowed us to become active partners with our schools. ArtQuest provides weekend and after-school programs, workshops, Traveling Trunks, ArtQuest Mobile, early childhood workshops, artist visits, and permanent art projects on an on-going basis. Impacted schools value the benefits these partnerships provide. Some of the schools include Hampton, Cone, Washington, Hunter, Rankin, Vandalia, and Fairview Elementary Schools.

Artists-in-the-Schools est. 1980
Green Hill has been bringing North Carolina artists from around the state into fourth grade classes of Guilford County Schools which includes lecture, demonstration and hands-on activities for the students to enjoy. The teachers' response? "It’s the best program I have had in a long time." "Native American artist Senora Lynch created memories that will always remain with my fourth grade students." They also describe the artists as being "enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and professional" and having an "excellent rapport with students."

Traveling Trunks est. 1987
Trained volunteers and interns present seven trunks of art objects to schools and community groups. The trunks were created to introduce art to children and adults of all ages. Filled with a wide variety of art works representing the cultural legacy of North Carolinians, the program promotes awareness of the many artistic traditions of our state. By Many Hands, designed for third graders, features a collection of multicultural art. Double Meanings reaches a more artistically mature audience with paintings and mixed media works that stimulate discussion about how to look at paintings. Touch the Past consists of artwork created by North Carolina Native Americans. Carolina Clay is a collection of North Carolina pottery designed to complement the fifth grade curriculum.

Teacher Workshops est. 1993
A resource for teachers, Green Hill Center and ArtQuest offer workshops on creativity, art techniques and methods for the classroom, and fostering a creative environment in pre-school and home daycare settings. After attending a teacher workshop on found art, one teacher stated that the workshop provided "great ideas for use in classroom... (it) frees up the mind of the teacher so new ideas for everything will come!"
